Samsung RV511-AO1 Comparison
Samsung has heard the cry of the wider public,that may be, for matte notebook displays. Design
The design leaves something to get desired, though kudos to Samsung for trying something somewhat quirkier than normal. The interior is plain silver, that has a black gloss surrounding the keyboard. The lid, meanwhile, includes a big black strip along the bottom, while the rest is often a shinier silver hue. We have an interesting texture, which we can easily only liken to the lenticular 3D-effect pictures — many tiny raised horizontal lines. It makes an awesome swoop noise if you drag both hands up and down along it, however if you’re the type of one that can’t stand nails using a chalkboard, this texture could very well set your teeth on edge.
Keyboard and Touchpad
The RV511′s black, island-style keyboard feels safe and contains a lot of spacing between keys. While flat, the square-shaped chiclet keys have a pleasing non-slip surface, and provide quiet but tactile feedback. Samsung comes with quite a few pad. Our only complaint is the fact that the right Shift secret’s slightly small. We really like the RV511′s touchpad; measuring 3.5 x 2.2 inches, it’s large and quite responsive. Using multi-touch gestures became a breeze, whether were zooming inside and outside of photos or scrolling down website pages. You may also use three fingers to turnover through pictures. Two discrete mouse buttons–what we love to see–provided firm yet soft clicks.
Display
The display is great — this is a 15.6-inch panel with a maximum resolution of 1,366×768 pixels. It’s impressively vivid, with colours looking really vibrant, but in spite of the brightness cranked as much as max, this is not a notably bright screen. The viewing angle also isn’t about much, therefore you could possibly be driven crazy by screen reflections when you are using the RV511 inside a brightly lit environment. To sum up, now you have an average display. We’ve seen some Samsung laptops with really ace panels recently, so we’re just a little disappointed this one isn’t similarly spellbinding.
Performance
As much as overall performance, the RV511-A01 harmonized pretty much against its similarly priced competition.
