Laptop Quad Core I7
Issues with new Intel i7 quad-core processor.?
My new dell laptop came with Windows 7 home premium pre-installed and it is using i7 quad-core processor. For some reasons , I had to reinstall Windows 7. But after that, I only see 4 CPUs(which initially was 8 CPUs) in Windows Task manager/performance. Now my pc is running slowly like a sick old man. Is there anything i am missing when i7 processor is re-configuredd on windows 7? Would it be a bios or driver problem?

I suppose this should be something wrong about your BIOS. Intel processors are automatically identified by the motherboard BIOS during the initial boot-up. Since you have reinstalled your operating system, you should also update BIOS revision installed so that your motherboard can identify your processor. After you update BIOS, you should make sure that all cores are enabled in BIOS settings. Hope this helps.
